Let’s be honest, darlin’ — some of the best weekends in New Orleans start with a po’ boy, end with a beignet, and involve at least one gloriously questionable decision somewhere in between. But isn’t that exactly why we love this city? The French Quarter doesn’t just feed you; it flirts with you — one cocktail, one powdered-sugar kiss, and one late-night laugh at a time.
And since temptation tastes better when it’s walking distance from your bed, Historic Mardi Gras Inn is the perfect place to crash (or continue the party) after indulging in the city’s most mouth-watering festivals, brunches, and culinary adventures.
1️⃣ Beignet Fest — November 15, 2025
Let’s start with something sweet (and a little messy). Beignet Fest at City Park is the lovechild of powdered sugar and pure joy. These pillowy temptations go way beyond your grandma’s café classic—think savory crab beignets, bacon-cheddar puffs, and vegan mushroom magic. The creativity alone is worth a second (or third) serving.
Bring your stretchy pants and a sense of adventure—because this fest is an all-day nibble-palooza, complete with live music, art vendors, and a vibe that screams, “Life’s short, eat the dough.” Afterward, you’ll want to roll yourself back to our inn, where your bed’s just as fluffy as the pastries.
2️⃣ Oak Street Po-Boy Festival — November 16, 2025
As if one food festival weren’t enough, New Orleans immediately follows with a sandwich showdown for the ages. The Oak Street Po-Boy Festival is an ode to that glorious baguette-wrapped beauty—the po’ boy.
More than 40 local vendors line the street slinging shrimp, roast beef, fried green tomato, alligator sausage, and some truly unholy combinations you’ll still dream about weeks later. There’s beer, brass bands, and enough hot sauce to make your eyeliner run.
My advice? Split sandwiches with your crew so you can taste everything, then Uber back to Historic Mardi Gras Inn for a well-earned nap (or, you know, a little post-lunch mischief). We don’t judge.
3️⃣ Drag Brunch Delights & Quarter Cravings
You didn’t think I’d skip brunch, did you? Drag Brunch is practically a sacred ritual here. Head to The Country Club or Vyoone’s for bottomless mimosas and queens who can high-kick higher than your cholesterol. The sequins sparkle, the grits are creamy, and the sass is free with every side of bacon.
If you’re more of a late-night grazer, swing by Cane & Table for cocktails that belong in art museums, or Dat Dog for post-party decadence that’ll soak up your sins.
Either way, your taste buds will sing “Hallelujah” while your Fitbit quietly gives up.
4️⃣ Make It a Weekend of Indulgence
You could try to do this all in a day—but why rush when you can make a weekend of it? Historic Mardi Gras Inn is your home base for every bite, sip, and shimmy. We’re just one short block from the French Quarter and steps from a streetcar stop, so getting to any foodie fiesta is a breeze.
Our inn is proudly LGBTQ+-owned and operated, serving clean, affordable accommodations with a hearty side of warmth and wit. Whether you’re rolling in powdered sugar from Beignet Fest or strutting back from a drag brunch in six-inch heels, we’ve got your back—and your bathrobe.

5️⃣ Pro Tip: Don’t Count Calories, Collect Moments
Here’s the thing about New Orleans: it’s not a city you diet in. It’s a city you devour. From gumbo that hugs your insides to cocktails that taste like vacation in a glass, every flavor has a story.
So come stay with us at the Historic Mardi Gras Inn, where indulgence meets acceptance, laughter meets love, and dessert is absolutely mandatory. Book early—festival season is heating up faster than a crawfish boil, and you won’t want to miss a single delicious minute.
