By Karen Brem, Marketing Director, Historic Mardi Gras Inn
COMING SOON!!!

Hey yโall, itโs Karen Brem, your ever-fabulous Marketing Director at the Historic Mardi Gras Inn, and Iโm here to tell you about one of my absolute favorite Halloween happenings in New Orleans โ the 4th Annual Howl-O-Weenie at Dat Dog Magazine! ๐ถ๐ญ
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 25th, from 3:00โ5:00 PM at 3336 Magazine Street, because this paw-some event is guaranteed to have tails wagging and heads turning faster than you can say โtrick-or-treat.โ ๐ป
๐ When Halloween Goes to the Dogs (In the Best Way Possible)
If youโre the kind of person who believes Halloween isnโt complete until your dogโs in costume too โ then welcome home, sugar! ๐ The Howl-O-Weenie is the most adorable, bark-tastic event of the spooky season, where pups of every breed strut their stuff in full Halloween regalia. Expect pint-sized pumpkins, canine cowboys, ghostly greyhounds, and dachshunds dressed asโฆ hot dogs. (Yes, itโs been done a million times โ and yes, itโs still funny every single year. ๐ญ)
Humans are absolutely encouraged to get in on the fun. Whether youโre coordinating with your furry sidekick or going solo in your fiercest fit, this is your time to shine. Think โCouture meets Creature Featureโ โ sequins, fake blood, and fur (preferably faux) are all welcome.
๐๏ธ A Cause Worth Howling About
Beyond the cute overload, this event is doing real good in the world โ every penny of the proceeds goes to Zeusโ Rescue, one of New Orleansโ most beloved local rescue shelters. ๐พ๐
So, by grabbing your leash and joining the festivities, youโre not just showing off your petโs personality โ youโre helping save the lives of dogs and cats in need. Thatโs a Halloween miracle even the Great Pumpkin would applaud. ๐๐
๐น From Dog Bones to Daiquiris โ Make It a Full-Day Affair
The Howl-O-Weenie may wrap up by 5:00 PM, but baby, the night is just getting started. After you and your pup have paraded, posed, and pawed your way through the crowd, keep those Halloween vibes rolling with a short hop over to the French Quarter.
Swap out that water bowl for a cocktail glass and head into the cityโs nightlife scene for some adults-only Halloween fun. ๐ญ๐ธ The French Quarter is the place to let your imagination (and your costume) run wild โ think haunted bars, spooky cocktails, street performers, and enough photo ops to fill your feed till Mardi Gras.
๐จ Stay Where the Magic (and Mischief) Happen
Now, letโs talk about where to stay. The Historic Mardi Gras Inn is the place to be this Halloween season โ especially if you want to soak up every bit of spooky charm this city has to offer.
Weโre located just one block off the French Quarter, and only a two-minute walk to a streetcar stop, so getting to and from Magazine Street โ or anywhere else your Halloween heart desires โ is a breeze. ๐
Oh, and did I mention? Weโre pet-friendly for dogs 25 pounds or less, so your little goblin-on-a-leash is more than welcome to join the adventure. ๐พ
Our recent site-wide glow-up means the inn is looking better than ever โ freshly renovated, fabulously stylish, and still serving up that famous New Orleans charm. Plus, weโre proudly LGBTQ+ owned and operated, which means everyone is celebrated here, no matter how you identify or who you love. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐
And while we make no wild promises (Iโm not your fairy godmother, honey โ Iโm just the marketing director ๐), I can assure you of clean, affordable accommodations and a warm, welcoming staff thatโs downright devoted to making your stay amazing.
