COMING THIS WEEKEND

The rainbow is a symbol of diversity in sexuality, love and acceptance and tolerance to all people.

Hey there, fabulous folks! It’s your girl Karen Brem, Marketing Director for the Historic Mardi Gras Inn, and I am beyond thrilled to welcome you to one of the most vibrant, joyous, and colorful events of the year—New Orleans Pride Fest 2024! Kicking off this Friday, June 7th, our beloved Big Easy is rolling out the rainbow carpet to embrace the entire LGBTQ+ community and all those who stand with us in unity and love.

Every year, more than 50,000 lively souls flock to our city to bask in the celebration of Pride, and this year promises to be more sensational than ever! The festivities begin on Friday as we open our arms and hearts to everyone coming to join in the revelry. With events and parties planned all over town, you’ll find that the entire city pulses with excitement and an overwhelming sense of community.

Saturday Block Party Extravaganza

Get ready to let loose and have the time of your life as Pridefest begins on  Saturday, June 8th, from 11 am to 6 pm, is the day you do not want to miss! The annual block party hosted by the legendary Phoenix Bar at 941 Elysian Fields Avenue will be the epicenter of fun and fearless expression. This isn’t just any block party; it’s a day-long celebration packed with live entertainment, delectable food, refreshing drinks, and most importantly, a sense of togetherness that you won’t find anywhere else.

The highlight of the day? None other than Big Freedia, our very own Queen of Bounce, will be headlining the event! Get ready at 3:30 pm  to dance and groove as she brings her high-energy, infectious beats to the stage. And trust me, when Big Freedia performs, the energy is electrifying. But she’s not the only star of the show; a lineup of fantastic performers will keep the vibe going all day long on the mainstage. Also, there will be two DJs that each play a 3-hour set from the Phoenix balcony at the festival entrance. All of this fun leads right into the evening’s main event—the Pride Fest Parade.

Sunday’s Grand Finale and Beyond

While Sunday marks the official close of the Pride Fest weekend, the celebration of gay pride in the Crescent City continues throughout the entire month of June. From parades to parties, and special events scattered all over town, every day is an opportunity to celebrate who you are and who we are as a community.
